Hi, I'm Anita Hackett

As a woman in the trades, I’ve seen it all—especially the look some men give you when you walk into a shop like you must’ve taken a wrong turn on the way to the salon.

That ends here. It’s my honor to teach you the basics (and beyond) so you can speak up, stand tall, and maybe even change your own oil without asking a man to do it.

Why come to me?

Well, after proudly serving in the U.S. Army, I became the first female mechanic for Chapel Hill Transit. And let me tell you, there’s nothing like seeing a bus zip by and being able to say, “Yep, I fixed that.”

Whether you want to stop getting ripped off, feel confident under the hood, or just understand what the heck your mechanic is talking about - I got you.

With tools and a little bit of torque.
